Seller Comments... James McNeill Whistler: Famous for painting the portrait of his mother seated in a chair (see insert.) In September of the year 1992 Edward Longo decided it would be interesting to paint the classical artist in the same position as the portrait of his mother hanging above him. Proust once called this artist of many figurative paintings, "The Professer of Beauty." For an artist who loved to paint woman he lived a rather long life: 1834 - 1903.
