An original painting utilizing archetypal imagery of the Madonna. The selection of specific colors for the fabric alludes to this. The silver armband is from the city of "father-apple", Alma Ata, Kazakhstan. Although Almaty is a long distance from Palestine, it is possible that portable trade goods such as this could have made their way to the Levant in the pre-islamic and pre-christian eras.
My style has been variously classified as; visionary art, fantastic realism, fantasy, surrealism, magical realism, female allegorical, and religious art. I was born in Salzburg Austria, was raised in Italy, and currently reside in Minneapolis, MN (USA). This piece - and much of my work - was heavily influenced by my exposure to Italian life and art. I greatly admire the Italian masters of the Baroque Period.
