Cosmic Fireball: This large-sized oil painting was created on Mylar and stretched as a canvas over 1 1/2-inch thick wood stretchers. Next came the execution of oil using the palette knife followed by fluid, sweeping brush strokes. Linseed oil allowed the oils to flow, while paint thinner was never used. Finally, additional colors were incorporated into the painting by squeezing oil paint directly from the tube onto the canvas.
Although in its infancy, the were many interpretations such as the sun looming over the ocean, a cosmic fireball, Armageddon, the big bang, and other faith-based comments like the eye of God. Another interpretation was that it might represent The Face of Jesus - the reasoning initiated by the brown hair surrounding the fiery face (possibly bearded,) with the deep blue palette strokes representing the crown of thorns of the crucifixion. The artist would appreciate individual interpretations and comments from other viewers.
