One of a long and ongoing series of portraits of Jimi Hendrix. This piece combines an earlier portrait of him at Woodstock, with the symbolism of the US flag. The intenty was to make it appear as if his features are emerging from the lines in the flag. The flag image also symbolises his return from the grave, since it is a US symbol of memorial, and also also records his well-documented American patriotism.
