Seller Comments...
This piece was created from a web photograph of a child holding up a placard with two leaders of the ant-Government forces at an anti-American demonstation. The figure on the right is Abu Musab al-Zarqawi killed by U.S. forces in 2006. This Jordanian-born guerrilla operated as Osama bin Laden's proxy in Iraq, controlling thousands of foreign fighters under the al-Qaeda banner. But by the time of hs death Zarqawi had become a problem for al-Qaeda's leaders operating an independent policy somewhat at odds with their strategic goals. As a result of the use of this external source the piece is not for sale.

It is one of a series of mixed media art work prints created as a personal response to the violent events of the Iraq War and its bloody postscript. This series is not intended as a partisan political statement, but rather as a purely humanitarian and reflective one. The images represent views from behind dirt, bomb and blood splattered glass, and through the strange beauty this creates commemorate those who have died, or suffered loss, in this messy conflict. We are also reduced to viewing such conflicts through the 'window' of the media, and this is another aspect of these works.
