"Vision From the Past" by Dot Chauvin
Limited Edition Print
Edition Size: 500

“Vision From The Past”, 16x20 print, acid free museum quality paper, s/n 500. This was created of the Cotton Gin that was in Point Blu, Louisiana. The painting was done from surveying the cotton gin’s ruins and from the memory of the caretaker of the property. As he reminiscing over the history of the Gin, telling stories of how the train would blow the whistle at him as a hello, but the train and train tracks were no longer there. More stories how he would take water to the cotton farmers waiting in line to get their cotton processed and the farmers would give him a penny. Plenty of stories flowed from the Louisiana man that he was born and raised in that area. He saw the Gin in its prime as a child and as when we walk through the dead silent crumbling building, I could see he had lived a great life around the gin. The stories he told and description of the cotton gin process helped create the image in my mind to document the history on the canvas. All the detail in the painting is difficult to see from the small image, but anyone with ancestor that worked in the old gins would be proud to have this piece of history.

Eccl. 3:13-15 All pieces are signed and below my name is a scripture that is significant to the particular painting, as this is the origin of my ability and inspirations. I welcome commissions as I thoroughly enjoy creating that special one of a kind painting from what you want, have seen or that old home place that is no longer exists. I welcome and value your feed back in the Critic’s section. Contact me for more information and for any additional questions.
