One of a series of studies of Bath Abbey (1499-1503) built on the site of a huge Norman Cathedral of 1120-1161 AD. The Abbey and its Norman predecessor are both built over a previous Saxon cathedral (675-89 AD) where in 959 Edgar who had united the kindoms of Mercia and Wessex, was crowned as the first king of all England by Archbishop Dunstan of Cantebury.[CLICK ON THE IMAGES FOR LARGER FORMAT VERSIONS]
