Big Basin Redwoods State Park is the oldest state park in California. Established in 1902, Big Basin Redwoods State Park is located in the Santa Cruz Mountains about 65 miles south of San Francisco and 25 miles northwest of Santa Cruz. Big Basin Redwoods State Park has over 18,000 acres of old growth redwood forest with over 80 miles of hiking trails. One of the most popular hikes is the 10.5 mile, 6-hour round trip hike to Berry Creek Falls.
