This etching was created in 1975 using the intaglio technique of printmaking. I was a young art student, intrigued by natural forms. I loved to draw. This image combines several bird forms into a montage of movement. At the time, I was also reading Sylvia Plath, the gifted and tragic young poet who killed herself in 1963. Her famous poem, Elm, had a line spoken by the tree: "I am inhabited by a cry. Nightly it flaps out, looking, with its hooks, for something to love..."
Paper prints and giclees available. (Original NFS)
