Gooseneck barnacles, also known as Percebes, are those brave creatures that live in the tide pools between the ocean waves and the shore. As a result, they have to survive periods of both wet and dry. Abundant on the Pacific Coast of California, they are small, about 2" high, and number in the millions. They grow in the tide pools and on the shore rocks and even on other shells. They symbolize to me surviving both the good times and the bad times, and ever adapting to change.
