This piece was created from a web photograph of a US infantryman in full combat gear with his assault rifle slung by his side, playing pool with Iraqi civilians, while a small boy watches the game. As a result of the use of this external source the piece is not for sale.
This piece is one of a series of mixed media pieces created as a personal response to the violent events of the Iraq War and its bloody postscript.
This series is not intended as a partisan political statement, but rather as a purely humanitarian and reflective one. The images represent views from behind dirt, bomb and blood splattered glass, and through the strange beauty this creates commemorate those who have died, or suffered loss, in this messy conflict.
