Sapele wood when quartersawn cut has alternating lighter and darker stripes, giving it the characteristic of changing color (an illusion) when walking by it or turning it in ones hands. The lid has 3 panels {2-routed wood & 1 - Sunset Colors stained glass on the outside.
The 2 wood panels are lined on the inside with Red Orange crushed velvet with the middle panel having a mirror. Inserted in the center of the front of the box bottom is a 2 inch diameter polished solid brass case clock with gold dial and roman numerals.
Has a lift out tray with partitions making several 1 1/2 inch deep compartments. The compartment underneath the tray is unpartitioned. Has a 14kt gold plated musical movement. Tray and box bottom are lined with Red Orange crushed velvet. Has 2-polished solid brass 95 degree stop hinges, 4-14kt gold plated knobs {2 on the lid, 2 on the tray} and a 14kt gold plated 18 note musical movement which plays {your choice} Unchained Melody, Lara's Theme, Love Me Tender, or Wind Beneath My Wings. The melody will play about 3 minutes on one winding.
I apply 3 finish coats of clear marine grade polyurethane spar varnish that is impervious to most liquids including body oils and some mild acids.
