The Farallon Islands lie just past (27 miles) the Golden Gate Bridge in Northern California, outside of the San Francisco Bay. It is a national wildlife refuge, and attracts bird-lovers and whale-watchers. They are "Far and Alone" as their name suggests, but they are also abundantly populated with wildlife, mostly birds and seals. It is also a favorite spot for whale-watching.
Seastacks are the islands of the coastline that have eroded from the mainland through time. They represent to me the peace and tranquility of being alone with nature, but also the memory of being joined to loved ones. As John Donne put it, "No man is an island..."
Paper prints and giclees available. (Original NFS)
