Medium: Oil on canvas

Story: The Monarch butterfly migrates along the coast of Canada and the United States into the heart of Mexico, and then back again to start the cycle over. It's an epic journey involving several generations, with each generation continuing where the previous one left off.
The Monarchs travel thousands of miles, numbering themselves in the thousands, fluttering through the sky like forsaken autumn leaves swept up by a gust of wind--a legacy of perseverance, the instinct to dance with life, and just a plain beautiful sight to behold.
The 12" x 36" size of the canvas is inspired by Chinese scroll painting, and the deep 1.5" sides, painted black, make this original painting ready to hang without a frame.
