I have intentionally avoided reference to "his banjo" as a title and I say this with a smile (think "His Hammered Dulcimer). As in the case of some of the Philadelphia works, even those which appear to be from another era, (which they are not-they were from the Summer of 2004 with actual individuals that were simply dressed in garb) this is also a true Philly moment in time. I worked from live sketches and photos I took, but put the work down for two years. Most people do not understand the importance that a location or a place may have on their lives. Consistant with my work, I am most interested in people, souls, life and memories, places in time. This young man lives (or at least lived) in University city, Philadelphia in the Summer of 2005 when I captured this moment in time. Yes, the cat was there too but wishes to remain anonymous with his talented master. One cannot relate the music in this medium but it was a magical moment and reflects the multifacited character of this city that I call home.
