Seller Comments...
This is the first piece in the "Greed" subcatagory of the "Man's Nature" Series. The full title is "Man's Nature - Greed: Possess-I".

Greed moves man to try to "Possess" Nature. This possessive trait is visualized in the nine Spikes grasping the stone. There appears to be no escape for the stone. But escape it will - eventually.
The stone is of the same type used in the entire "Man's Nature" series. Several fossilized shells are evident. There even seems to be some sort of round object that has been mostly encased by the original coral.
The Steel Frame was forged and welded as a unit. A coarse texture was applied to the frame with a torch. (Not only is this a VERY tedious process, it is also somewhat dangerous! If great care is not excercised, the heat from the torch can cause the stone to literally explode!) Each of the three "Traits" were engraved onto the legs. The Title and Copyright were engraved onto the "Greed" leg. Finally, the steel was sandblasted, tempered with the torch and given an oil finish.

The "Man's Nature" Series highlights not only Man's mishandling of the Ecology, but also the temporal nature and ultimate vanity of Man's attempts to manipulate the Environment. In the end, unless God steps in, Man will not be the last one standing.
