When he was 16 years old he was sent as a missionary to the Indonsia, where he gave up of his religious career dedicating his time to agriculture. Then he moved to Paris and decided to start his artistic career, when he knew the artist Goujita. In the beggining of the 30's he exposed some of his painting in some shows in Paris, till the beggining of the second world war, when he returned to Japan, going to Rio de Janeiro in 1940 when he started to become famous with his masterpieces.
