Seller Comments... Rembrandt van Rijn "Beggar Warming his Hands at a Chafing Dish" Medium: original etching. Catalogue reference: Bartsch 173 ii/ii. Printed on 18th century laid paper. Plate size: 3 x 1 13/16 inches (77 x 47mm) with thread margins; tipped (lightly mounted) onto an acid-free support mat. One of the classic Rembrandt compositions featuring beggars. According to Biorklund and Barnard in their catalogue "Rembrandt's Etchings True and False" (probably the best work on the subject) there are no known copies of this Rembrandt etching executed in the same direction anywhere close to these dimensions.
