This abstract painting has figurative shapes in it if you look long enough. The gesturing of the figures brought to mind the struggle between the spiritual self and the ego self. The struggle of the person who wants to know God and follow the path of spirit, but is tortured by their own thoughts of self-loathing. I remembered a teaching of the Bible verse I quote in the title of the painting that referred to the verse being about such a struggle.
