Original Finger Painted Art by Ivan Chan

Story/The conch shell trumpet figures into many cultures across the world, its resonant sound used for calming the seas, invoking good spirits, and banishing evil.

In Greek mythology, Trition, the son of Poseidon and Amphitrite, was the first merman and blew his conch shell trumpet to raise and quell storms. A herald of Poseidon, he was a messenger from the watery depths, like a dream sent by the unconscious that wakes you from sleep.

This Original Finger Painting is 16" x 20" and is a part of my Merman Series. Powerfully inspired by the Japanese artist, Katsushika Hokusai, it is present with a solid male sensuality haloed by two circles of flying fish seemingly made of fire and light. It is ready to hang without a frame (the sides are painted black).
