This is a gallery of original paintings, of various styles that I have explored over the years. No matter what the style, however, each of these paintings ultimately relates to my overall fluid philosophy, which holds that all formal and abstract works originate from a fluid reality.

ORIGINAL paintings. From Kernodle’s 1999 OMICRON series. A whimsical diversion from his usual human figurative theme for this series. Unique, strong, enigmatic, abstract, individual, self-taught style…. SIZE: 40 x 30 x 1 ½ inches…. MATERIALS: archival acrylics on canvas, securely attached to wood stretcher…. FINISH: neat gallery-wrap, paint-around edges; final, protective, gloss varnish; wired and ready to hang (unframed, modern museum style)…. PRICE: $ 650 (does NOT include shipping)…. MARKINGS: artist’s signature on front of canvas; artist’s catalogue number, painting title, date created, and artist’s signature on back of canvas.... ARTIST: Robert Kernodle expresses a visionary attitude towards the human body and the universe it lives in. In OMICRON OUTLANDER, however, he explores an other-than-human body. Whether dealing with human or aliens, he perceives space, NOT as an empty void, but as an active, material medium. From his perspective, the universe’s active, invisible matter gives birth to visible, material substance that forms into living beings. His space is a fine matter-energy foundation or stuff-in-motion that condenses into denser life energy forms. Any living body, therefore, moves, NOT IN space, but as an EXTENSION OF space, which gives birth to all reality. Kernodle’s OMICRON series symbolizes this visionary perspective. The figures in this series ordinarily are incomplete at the extremities, where hands and feet ought to be – usually this absence symbolizes how extremities flow and connect the whole body into its surrounding medium. But again, in OMICRON OUTLANDER, he deviates from his usual treatment-- this time he experiments with defining unique hands and feet. Keeping true to the OMICRONS' primary feature, the figure here still lacks a defined face, maintaining his idea that faces are NOT the focus in the movement of whole bodies through infinite eternity. For Kernodle, life is a grandiose, material event in a grandiose, material medium – a raw, visceral experience of the body’s wonder.
