‘Mixed Signals’, © 2009: The SinCon process of extending imagery, using the original exposure, will at times result in an unintended secondary image. This is such a case, where the artifacts of this way of working presents in a way that suggest a mushroom cloud. This cloud is symbolic of a universal fear, a primary component of the way governments and the "Mad Men" of Madison Ave. advertising use to move the masses. ‘If you don’t use this kind of detergent your clothing will result in a stinky, discolored batch of useless fabric’, or ‘should one not use this product or that, you will suffer the consequences’, or perhaps ‘if all the Tali ban are not killed the free world will be destroyed in much the same way that if Iran and Korea aren’t stopped nuclear annihilation may occur’, or how about the "death panels" of healthcare reform! The importance of discerning the degree of truthfulness within such proclamations by throwing out the exagggeration, sic, and questioning may not be underestimated in the achievement of a quality of day-to-day life in which world populations are so deserving. The relevance of the unintended visual to the idea of ‘Mixed Signals’ informed cropping and to a tonal enhancement of the secondary image to make a conceptual point.
