Of the drawings I've done this has the most meaning. These are my grandparents. They were separated for most of their married life and living 2000 miles away from one another. My grandmother, who I grew up with, passed away from Alzheimer's after a three year struggle at home with our family. I did my share of helping to care for her during that time and learned a lot about looking after those who can no longer care for themselves. My grandfather moved back home a couple years after my grandmother died and passed away shortly after as well. This image was taken on the rare time they were able to visit one another. Caring for a loved one at home is not easy. I greatly respect anyone who has made this sacrifice for a family member.
