Commissioned by the Artificial Reef Society of British Columbia, the bust version of Silent Vigil also represents a member of the Canadian Merchant Navy on submarine lookout during a convoy in the North Atlantic during World War II. Part proceeds of the sale of this sculpture will fund the placement of a life-size statue of the same figure on the deck of a vessel to be sunk and named as "The Canadian Merchant Navy Memorial Artificial Reef". Standing 12 inches tall including the Walnut base, the bust incorporates the head and torso of the Silent Vigil sculpture.
