One of the more saline areas of Shark Bay is Hamelin Bay, a small area of L'Haridon Bight which is formed by the sediments being trapped by the large seagrass beds which enables the seagrass beds to grow toward the surface, slowing down the tidal movement of water. This makes the salt concentration increase up to 3 times the salinity of the ocean.
This salinity gives the water here an amazing tone and the clarity of the water is exquisite for snorkelling around the stromatelites. The salt has a polarising effect and my skin and hair feels clear radiant for days after.
