A piece developed from a photograph taken in 1992 of one of a number of wheeled sea platforms in the sea at Exmouth located, as the name implies, at the mouth of the river Exe in Devon. I took the photograph at sunset to reflect the way the sea was oxidising the metal wheels back to their original and natural elements of ferrous oxide and also the way they reflected the beautiful colours of the evening sea, and sky viewed through the rusting construction. There is also a tiny red marker in the sea which provides a point of balance for the composition and is linked to the wheels in the title.
