The long drive along the Nullarbor is well known for being boring as f* but I found it so fun! We stopped everywhere we could, and had some fabulous campfires, watched whales and camped out on the edge of cliffs. Eucla was kind of special because it marked the first time I'd moved out of WA for 18 years. Getting out of WA was a quarter of our journey to Townsville, it’s a huge state.
Like most places seem on the highway Eucla seemed like the service station. We got there around lunch time so we stopped out & did the "it doesn't look so far" (prbbbb!) walk to the beach….
With its icy water washing over the slow sloping gypsum rich squeaky pink sand I stood & transfixed by the calmness of the southern ocean. We wandered over to the jetty old ruins with the shags & then meandered back through the dunes.
