Minardi is often said to have started the ‘Nazarene’ movement in Italy.
This claim needs more research as it can also be said that the Nazarenes took their ideas from Minardi.
However, in Minardi we can see the continuation of the Old Master tradition in drawing. He is now regarded as one of the major artists of the Italian nineteenth century.
Minardi was Director of the Academy of Fine Art, Perugia & Professor of the Academy of S. Lucca in Rome (1821-1858).
Minardi is represented in the Art Galleries of Faenza, Florence & Rome.
