This is the second painting of the Womb paintings done just before the birth of my daughter Josephine. I painted these as a response to being a first time father and all of the fears and anticipation that goes along with that. This piece is much more abstracted than Womb I. It is a very close crop of the babies midsection and both my wife and my hands in it. This piece has a tear over the bottom right corner (completely missing the corner), this is common among my works. Typically I just tear off a piece of paper from a role of paper when I get the urge to paint. Some times I am on the mark and sometimes i'm less agile. This in now way ruins the integrity of this piece.
