This is one of the paintings I made on 9-11. After watching the events unfold on my TV, and having left my college classes to be with my family, I began to see the fear, rage, uncertainty and disbelief settling in among my family and fellow Americans. I started painting a series called The Concensus, which eventually ran to 32 finished works and several more incomplete paintings. The night of 9-11 I began painting. I painted for days and days as I watched the TV. This was only the 6th painting in the series. Below the faces are the condolences sent to the United States from heads of state around the world. This piece depicts the feeling of looking over our shoulders. As Americans, we began to get a feeling of, who can we trust, who did this, where are they, how did they do it, is something else going to happen today. We trusted no one, and especially Arabs including Arab Americans. It was a very disturbing time to be American all around. This piece, I believe depicts that feeling. It is not for sale, I am posting it just as part of my portfolio.
