This is an example of Roberts commissioned work. Prices start at $350 U.S. for a single subject. Archive quality prints are available at $65.
You will note, that while Robert uses colored pencils for the creation of his artwork, the finished piece is often described as a painting. His innovative approach to his artwork has redefined what is typically perceived as a colored pencil drawing.
To achieve these superb results, Robert has pushed the medium to its limits. At first, colors are applied with a very, very light touch, roughing in the shadows and highlights and basic blocks of color. After that, major details are blocked to further define the object being worked on. More and more colors are added with very light pressure in order to give the piece proper tone and depth. The process continues as the pressure is gradually increased layer, after layer, after layer. A typical drawing will require 40 to 50 colors built up over 8 to 12 different layers. The finished work is rich, lush and vibrant displaying a clarity and depth typically reserved for acrylic and oil painting.
Due to the highly detailed, labor intensive nature of Robert’s work (even the smallest pieces take a minimum of 40 hours to complete), he is limited in the number of commissions he can accept. While most pieces are completed within 2 to 4 weeks, some may take considerably longer based on the size and complexity of the piece. So, if you need a piece completed for a special occasion, contact Robert today to check availability. While he is typically booked well in advance, he will do whatever possible to complete a commission to meet a special date.
