David Ascalon's Holocaust Memorial for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania was selected from among hundreds of entries in an international sculpture competition sponsored by the Greater Harrisburg Jewish Community Federation in the early 1990s. Ascalon designed the stainless and Cor-Ten steel sculpture, which was fabricated by his Ascalon Studios, Inc. in 1994. Ascalon also designed the surrounding plaza. The memorial sits on the banks of the Susquehanna River in the City of Harrisburg, the Capital of Pennsylvania.
