Mystery shrouds Anubis, Egyptian god of embalming, ruler of the dead, guide to souls in the after life, and master of funeral rites. Anubis is credited with helping Isis to reassemble Osiris after he was dismembered by his jealous brother Set. His statures can be seen guarding tombs at the necropolis in Memphis and in many other cities around egypt.
