From the moment one pulls a camera to the eye, the act of illusion making begins. Perhaps the basic principle/element of this act, is to crop (or edit) to decide what remains within the viewfinder, ie. the resulting print. From my perspective, this is not only someone in the intense throws of said act, but the more formally considered, arches in opposition to one another, is of concern and interest, the sculpture is of pretty fine quality as well! In the end a photo is but a two dimensional slice of something with color resting upon it: it can be turned in multiple ways, crushed and rephotographed, burned in a controled fashion, and presented in a 'final' form (if one doesn't have time for all this, the image may also find its way to the circular file). Using certain aspects of 'reality' as a grid upon which this act of a quest for the illusion take place, may be one of the most dynamic involvements I've ever experienced.
