'Crown of Africa', © circa 1974: This work considers the oft underestimated power and influence of the women in African societies, where sovereignty of the crown (usually afforded the male) is of the highest order. Due to the lighting, the specific identity of the sitter is hidden, thereby rendering her as a symbol, one of great respect and pride. This image was taken into the permanent collection of the New York Public Library (Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture), 1978, and reside in several private collections as well.
All materials, techniques and pigments used in producing this print are archival, in line with museum standards. Print is frontally titled and signed with copyright. All measurements are from the image edges and do not include the generous griping border. Each print also include instructions for care and if followed will extend print-life so as to provide many, many decades of viewing pleasure. Buyer will pick-up actual shipping and insurance costs.
