Both my brother and myself adore Japanese gardens. I wanted to create an area of sanctuary so that each time I looked into the painting I could drift off and visualise being there. The overall effect of the painting has been created by a selection of nine different scenes being placed together. The original building was surrounded by paving and was taken from a daytime scene, which I changed to a night scene. I then wanted to create depth by adding trees and water and most importantly the lighting was added to create warmth. Please enjoy my Japanese garden.
