I have the pleasure of owning not one, but 3 original Peter Dillons! I bought them at a flea market in Corpus Christi, Texas. Well, I didn't really buy them, I traded a guy 2 used tires for them, frames included! On the back of one, I found a handwritten note from Mr. Dillon. It reads, in part..."I will not leave the priesthood unless I receive from the hand of God a mighty gift of art and poetry! I will pray for this gift as I am a poor sailor and not a very good student...if only I could decide about whether or not to be celibate?"
Anyway, perhaps this is a glimpse into the mind of a budding genius, or just another young, confused boy searching for a reason to live. I use two of my paintings to prop open the kitchen windows in the cool autumn evenings. The other painting, entitled "Where's My Father?" is a lovely but twisted picture of a dining room table with an empty chair at the head of the table. It is similar in design and scope to "The Last Supper". On the table is a lovely meatloaf dinner, with corn, rolls, and beans. Two little red-headed boys are sitting on the left side of the table with tears in their eyes and fingers up their noses. One has his thumb up his own butt.
