Hi Cookiebee,
First of all I wanted to say that I really like your works! My favorite is "The Ideation Of Prune and Xiology" and "Illustration" . As for leaving the university ,I can only tell you from my own experience -stay in school - just don't take it too seriously! I also didn't feel I got much out of my classes and though I don't think I got C , but I think for all my university life I got only 1 A. Actually I think I would of prefer to get a C - it 's more radical :) .
Why stay?
1) You get a paper with which you could potentially get work
2)I don't know about your University - but I had great studios - where I could work
3)See if you still get something out of it , may be indirectly : from fellow artists, from an assignment, from the discipline of working for a deadline etc
4)Establish yourself as a person who doesn't quite
5)you can always quite later
What I would suggest you though is to take some classes like printmaking ceramique or sculpture - classes where teachers have to give you knowledge of different techniques which otherwise you wouldn't learn + you get facility with printmaking press etc which you can not have on your own.and even if it's not something you think you want to do in future - you will learn a lot just by doing it.I learned a lot form doing monotypes which I apply now to my oils.
Having said this - if you are absolutely 300% sure that you will work better and more on your own , without regrets and without anyone or anything pushing you to constantly work - when you should take a break from University and work on your own .
Another advise I would give you - don't care what anybody thinks of your work - that applies as much for good comments as for bad ones .Of course it is always nice to hear compliments but it really doesn't change or mean anything . Well , it is nice to have somebody who's opinion you respect and trust - the rest, teachers, friends ,family don't matter.
Well back to painting
Good luck
Natasha
