Do any of you belong to local art organizations, if so, how do you fare with them?
Ever take in their 'openings'...do you find it highly political, alot of people gossiping and whining or is it a relatively positive experience?
Curious...thinking of 'Making a change' in my own community lol...surprise, surprise...
I've belonged to more galleries and art groups/councils then I can remember, and even attempted an 'international' art group once upon a time.
There are many pro's and con's to joining them, sometimes they can be extremely beneficial, sometimes, I find, they just hold local artists back in their careers.
What are your positive/negative experiences with local art organizations?
