Subject: Yes, Graphic Design but also art in general...
Although I only started doing graphic design a year ago to raise more funds, it has also opened a lot of doors for bigger opportunities.
I volunteer for a non-profit, the Rocky Mountain Sustainable Living Association who organizes the annual Rocky Mountain Sustainable Living Fair in Fort Collins, Colorado. Helping organize the Fair as well as being graphics support enabled me to build up the trust and confidence of the RMSLA's Board of Directors to let me create an artshow fundraiser, Human Organics.
This, along with my graphic design business, has been able to help pay the bills in my and my husband's lives together.
Although I usually have pretty boring clients in the graphic design area, having ownership and being an independent contractor for the RMSLA has allowed MonkeyRing Graphics to branch out into MonkeyRing Media.
Being able to connect all these great opportunities into a satisfying art career has been and will continue to be what I've strived for my entire existence! I've been very fortunate to be able to do what I love, and even with the little amount of money I make, I'm very lucky indeed!
