The work of Elizabeth Durack (1915–2000) is unique in the panorama of Australian art.
Long before the Aboriginal art renaissance of the 1980s Durack was renowned for her sympathetic interpretations of the people and their ancient culture. Through her early and life-long experience of Aboriginality, Durack's themes remained constant even as her work evolved.
