. . . I hope you're right

I'm trying to be neither bitter nor abusive. I'm speaking from my own experiences to some extent, mesely though they may be.

I've ended each of my comments here with a note of good wishes to you, so polemical diatribe or not, you'll just have to venture in and see how it works for you.

For me:
Of the four appearances that I've made in published art annuals, the people who contacted me were artists who wanted to know whether it was worth it.

Of the 20 or so poetry anthologies that published a poem of mine, all of them relentlessly pursued me for their conventions, which cost lots of dollars for awards, rooming, cermonies, etc........ (as I said, "all the trappings of fame and recognition, which YOU pay for). THAT's the vanity poetry publishing business for you.

Of my five or so appearances in WHO's WHO, the publishers pursued me relentlessly, as well, to buy plaques and momentos, and a copy (or copies) of their big-dollar directory. Even THEY have gone more commercial/vanity in their approach, ... seems to me. Consequently, I no longer wish to be in WHO's WHO------ I threw away their last invitation.

Polemical diatribe or not, I'm simply being as honest as I can be here.

And, again, I sincerely wish you the best in such ventures.
