I am in possession of an older landscape painting, signed either as F. May or F. Maz in orange paint, lower right. There is a very old piece of a matboard-like substance nailed over the back of the painting, and on it in pencil is written the following: P.C. Glashagen 142 Monterey (and something else i cannot make out, starting with a C). The circled number 108 appears twice as well, in opposite corners, and the word "cash" is written once. Painting shows country home in woods, two smoking chimneys, and a white picket fence. Pond in foreground, small figure seated on hill, and possibly a bit of ocean far off in background seen in between the trees. Any information on this artist would be appreciated. Sorry, no date is included on painting. Also, would you recommend we removed the backing board?
thank you.
