Thank you for your original post. I was also recently invited to the Florence Biennale in 2007 via email. (in my case a version translated from Italian to German -- no idea why a USA artist receives an invitation translated from Italian to German) In my invitation, there was zero mention of exactly who selected me, nominated me or how the whole process evolved.
I am in the process of evaluating the cost vs benefit. I read your posts and I am contacting other past participants and will also consider seeking sponsorship from several past corporate clients.
