After all, an original painting could also be described as a "mixed media" work."

I agree that the use of the term "mixed media" for touched-up giclees is not a good way to describe it, but you know how galleries are - always looking for a fancy way to describe something simple. It actually confused me at first, and I had to ask two or three times before I understood that it was just a fancy way of saying touched-up giclees. I've also seen galleries use the word "embellished," which to me is far more descriptive and accurate.
