Fluidism Phase IV
Fluidism is a process of staging liquid events whose dried residue becomes artwork. Traditionally, liquid paint is poured, pooled and manipulated; patterns dry the way they settle; and this dried-paint substrate is the actual artifact.
Phase IV takes this process to a new level ... past actual-dried-fluid to virtual-wet-fluid by way of photography.
The most intriguingly beautiful forms develop in liquid that remains liquid. Here in the fully liquid state is where these actual forms last only a fleeting moment. The actual liquid substrate degrades, but an image of its peak performance can be captured with a camera.
While previous phases of Fluidism consider real liquid substrates as the true artwork, these newly-realized, transient forms disable real liquid substrates, where such forms last so briefly. Consequently, a photograph is the next best thing,... defining a new version of Fluidism by default.
