Yes, l am new to here. *waves*
l recently took a new job position where one of the tasks is holding the yearly art show (which is also a community fundraiser).
Now, after spending a week going through all the paperwork on the previous art shows held here, it appears that each year the organizer mimics the prior one. 14 years later, its in a rut.
l've spoken to last years entrants and had feedback on things like where to hang their art work, any complaints they had, etc but l need something more.
Can l ask you front line artists what you would like to see at an art show?
This event runs for three days, we have the opening night with the VIP, food, ect...but there must be something else.
There are 10 sections with prize money in my art show, open and a theme section, (Digital art, open painting, any other media, sewing/quilting/embrodiery/needlework, sculpture, Junior sections, sketching, photography).
But it seems the public come in, look and zoom out again.
l've organized for a feature sculpture to display his work and give a workshop. Another workshop is framing. What else? l dont wish to take anything away from the art work on display, but l need to try and keep people in the hall once there.
And l have been to zero art shows. *blush*
So l ask you all, the experienced ones, what would you like to see at an art show? Have you seen something that really appealed and you thought that was a brillant idea? Anything hands on?

l have two more months up my sleeve but wish this year to stand out from the previous ones.
