Hello,
I am not new as an artist but I am new as a member of d'art.
I have an art page at http://ekaweeka.com/560 as well as an ebay store at http://theteapotcoop.com and I do occasionally accept consignment orders from artists and craftspeople who don't want to be bothered with managing their own eBay listings.
Mostly, I like to read biographies of artists and their circles. Right now I am reading about Picasso a very interesting book, "Making Modernism" by Michael Fitzgerald, published by Farrar Straus & Giroux 1995 NY.
Seems that Picasso and his friends acted a lot like today's hip-hop "bad boys", they even went so far as to physically attack a speaker at a lecture who criticized them. This book is a fascinating look at the whole process of marketting an artist and what it was like in the early-mid twentieth century. Makes a very interesting comparison to today.
I would love to hear from others who are reading this book or other material about Picasso and his world.
