Hi I am new here and would just like to say hi, but that’s not my only reason for writing in your forum I would like to pick your brains if you would let me.
I’ve just started painting and at the moment use oil paint on canvas I mix the pigment with linseed oil or spirit depending whether I want a sheen or not but I have never varnished a painting and wondered what the benefit of varnishing would be and whether it is a necessity or not
