I think that you are off the mark here, and I say this even knowing that you are the consumate, experienced total pro that you are.
The chemistry of protection is not a miniscule concern. True, it should not dominate over the perfection of artistic style and originality, but to say that it is unimportant is underemphasizing the logic of it, in terms of product longevity in a market of consumers that expect constructions to be as strong and resilient over time as possible.
